OUR PROGRAM
We strive to be true Scout-run troop. Scout leaders plan and execute their own program, with adult leaders providing participation and support.
Our Patrol Method is supported by the Patrol Leaders' Council which consists of the members of the Leadership Patrol (SPL, ASPL, Troop Instructor, and JASM) and the Patrol Leaders of each patrol. This group meets monthly with the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters to plan Troop meetings and outings.
Our Male (172B) and Female (172G) Troops are linked, and meet at the same time in different areas of St. Paul's. Our Troops often often camp together at adjacent sites but plan and run their activities independently.
We've sent our Scouts to both Florida SeaBase, and Philmont Scout Ranch for weeks-long high adventure camps as well as frequent local camping, backpacking and whitewater weekends.
2024 EAGLE SCOUT SERVICE PROJECTS:
Jonathan and his team revitalized a children's garden at Bridge Valley Elementary School by building new covers for the fourteen garden beds. These beds are designed to be warmer than the outside temperature to allow the growing of plants in the spring and fall when school is in session.
Anjali selected a project at Churchville Nature Center where she lead a team of volunteers to prevent erosion by diverting water run off and creating a water garden. The team installed a french drain filled with river rock which flows surface water into a 7x7 catch basin filled with water loving pants.
Matt lead his team to build a 40 foot walkway to cover a portion of the trails in the Churchville Nature Center. This aims to help accessibility to the trail when it floods due to its location which is prone to flooding. While also making sure people stay on trail, protecting the wildlife.
Stephen selected a project to improve a new "pocket" pollinator park in Warwick township. The park off Turkey Trot and Land Rds was recently planted with hundreds of pollinator trees. A new walking loop is being constructed in the park and Stephen and his volunteers are adding two sitting benches on new concrete pads as well as other upgrades for park users.
Alex is leading a service project to rejuvenate a playground area at Churchville Nature Center. During his project Alex is leading a group of scout and adult volunteers to build a climbing ramp to provide improved (and more fun) access to the children's slide and reduce erosion. They are also remaking a fossil dig area, and remove invasive plants around the playground.
